In his first ad of the general election, 1st Congressional District Dem challenger Mitchell Berman says he’s “not looking to get rich.”
The 30-second spot is part of a six-figure ad buy that will run on television and streaming platforms across the district.
Berman, an emergency room nurse, faces GOP incumbent U.S. Rep. Bryan Steil, R-Janesville, who is seeking his fifth term. The ad begins with Berman on a riverbank preparing a fishing rod.
“Bryan Steil gets millions from special interests. Me? Not so much. So instead of a fancy commercial, we’re going fishing,” Berman says.

Berman, who is pictured with a handgun in a hip holster, then casts his line. He goes on to say that he was raised in rural Wisconsin, worked throughout college and is “not looking to get rich.”
“I just want to hunt, take my daughters to Packers games, and make life easier for families like mine. Congress has plenty of politicians. We need more people that live like us,” Berman says.
