JANESVILLE, Wis. — Blackhawk Technical College held its Fifth Annual Golden Brick Awards on June 9 to honor community members, industry partners, alumni, faculty and staff who have reached higher in pursuit of excellence. The sports-themed event recognized the winners as MVPs and included trading cards featuring each winner.
“You are icons. Thank you for supporting student success and helping our community thrive,” said Cassie Hartje, Blackhawk’s Executive Director of Advancement & Foundation. “This is an exciting time at Blackhawk–there is such momentum happening that is simply not possible without each of you and the myriad partnerships that build a beautiful network of community support.”
The MVPs who received a Golden Brick Award were:
- Community Partnership Award: Greater Beloit Economic Development Corporation
- Philanthropic Award: Scot Forge
- K-12 Partner of the Year: Brodhead High School
- Distinguished Alumnus of the Year: Joshua Pickering’10, chef and managing partner of Genisa Wine Bar and Jack & Jenny’s restaurants
- Faculty Member of the Year: Mitch Ziolkowski, Criminal Justice Instructor
- Staff Member of the Year: Elisa Colson, Student Engagement Specialist
These MVPs are the people and organizations who lead Blackhawk’s students and our community to victory after victory.
The Golden Brick Award trophies were designed and crafted by Blackhawk’s CNC students and the Manufacturing, Apprenticeship, Technology and Transportation Division.
