GREEN BAY, WI — June 2026 — June is Family Reunification Month, a time to recognize and celebrate families who have worked hard to safely reunite after involvement with the child welfare system. At CASA of Brown County, Family Reunification Month serves as an important reminder that the ultimate goal of child welfare is to help children return to safe, stable, and permanent homes whenever possible.
When children enter foster care, families often face significant challenges that must be addressed before reunification can occur. Through services, support, and a commitment to positive change, many parents work diligently to create safe environments where their children can thrive. Family Reunification Month honors these efforts and the resilience demonstrated by families throughout the process.
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) volunteers play a unique role in supporting children involved in child welfare cases. CASA volunteers gather information, build relationships with the children they serve, and provide reports to the judge based on the child’s best interests. While CASA’s focus is always on the well-being and safety of the child, volunteers often witness firsthand the dedication and progress families make as they work toward reunification.
“Every child deserves the opportunity to grow up in a safe, loving, and permanent home,” said Michelle Pierquet-Hohner, Executive Director of CASA of Brown County. “Family reunification can be a long and challenging journey, but when families are able to successfully reunite, it can create lasting positive outcomes for children. We are proud to support children throughout that process and celebrate the families who achieve this important milestone.”
Family reunification is often made possible through the collaboration of parents, foster families, social workers, attorneys, judges, service providers, and CASA volunteers. During Family Reunification Month, CASA of Brown County recognizes and thanks all those who work together to strengthen families and support positive outcomes for children.
