MADISON, Wis. – In case you missed it, Wisconsin State Senator and President Pro Tempore Patrick Testin (R-24)
joined “For the Record” with Elly Laliberte to discuss Republicans’ Core Four races that will determine control of the state senate.

On Republicans’ Chances:
“We are in the fourth quarter of this campaign cycle, and I don’t think it’s any secret that we are facing some significant headwinds going into the November 3rd election. However, I think where we sit in the state senate races as well as the state assembly is that our candidates have done a phenomenal job trying to create some insulation from all the national trends that are going on. Our candidates are focused on state and local issues, on what we can do to improve people’s lives and deal with the affordability crisis, whether it’s dealing with income tax reform, property tax relief, and continuing to build upon the investments that we’ve done under previous Republican budgets while maintaining a healthy surplus here in the state.”

On The Core Four Candidates:
“I think ultimately control of the state senate comes down to four key races that we af ectionately call the core four. Now the beauty of this is, out of those four seats to maintain control, we have to win two out of the four, and I think we are well positioned to do that.
. . .
I think the X factor are the candidates that we’ve recruited who are out there wearing out the shoe leather, taking their message to the voters and hearing what’s on people’s minds.”

On Republican Priorities in Madison:
“I think you’re going to see a huge emphasis on tax reform and returning the surplus back to the taxpayers. That is something that we tried to do and negotiated with Governor Evers. Unfortunately, every single Senate Democrat voted no on that deal. They want to keep the money down in Madison with the hopes of having a trifecta so they can squander that money and increase taxes by billions of dollars, whereas Republicans are going to be committed on doing what we can to make Wisconsin more attractive for new development, new opportunities for families all across the state and beyond our borders.”
