Common Council President Sabrina Madison has established a workgroup to review and address recommendations related to the Madison Police Department’s use of deadly force, de-escalation, and body-worn camera policies.

“This workgroup gives us an opportunity to look at what has already been studied, understand where we are today, listen to our community, and do the work necessary to address outstanding issues and strengthen our policies, practices and level of service our community receives from the Madison Police Department,” said President Madison.

Established by Presidential Order(external), the Workgroup will study and make recommendations regarding Madison Police Department use of deadly force, de-escalation, and body-worn camera policies and procedures, resulting in a final report and recommendations. Additionally, the Workgroup is tasked with educating the Council on the current state of MPD policies and procedures, providing the public with a forum for community feedback, and introducing legislation implementing their recommendations. 

The members of the Workgroup are:

  • Alder John Guequierre (Chair)
  • Alder Regina Vidaver
  • Alder Badri Lankella
  • Alder Tag Evers
  • Common Council President Sabrina Madison

Unless extended, the Workgroup will submit its report and recommendations to the Common Council by March 30, 2027.
