Danielle Rodriguez Nominated for Common Council Approval

Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson has named Danielle Rodriguez as his choice to lead the city’s Department of Admiration (DOA). Rodriguez brings decades of local government experience to her new position. She most recently headed the Operations Division of the city’s Department of Public Works where she led sanitation, recycling, forestry, fleet and transportation functions.
Her nomination as Director of DOA is submitted to the Common Council for its review and approval.
“Danielle has a record of leadership and accomplishment in city government. She also has my trust to lead one of the most complicated parts of my administration,” Mayor Johnson said. “We evaluated a very strong pool of applicants for this position, and Danielle rose to the top through the interview process.”
Among the divisions of DOA are core city functions such as budgeting, purchasing, and grants administration. It also includes technology management, innovation, environmental collaboration, and intergovernmental relations divisions.
“The Department of Administration plays a critical role in ensuring that the City of Milwaukee’s complex functions are aligned, accountable, collaborative and strategically supported. My career has prepared me to navigate both the operational and mission driven complexities of this work,” Rodriguez said. “As Administration Director, my focus will be on strengthening cross-departmental collaboration, reinforcing sound administrative practices, and ensuring our administrative system proactively supports both internal service delivery and the initiatives that impact our residents every day.”
Rodriguez says she looks forward to working with the Department’s division leaders, leaders throughout local government, and community-facing organizations to identify strategic priorities and improve collaboration, transparency and accountability. She is committed to position the Department to meet today’s needs while preparing aligning for the future.
Rodriguez earned her undergraduate degree in management from Cardinal Stritch University and completed her Master of Business Administration degree in 2016, also from Cardinal Stritch.
More than 120 people from Milwaukee and throughout the country formally applied to fill the DOA director position.
