Diesel hits consecutive record highs in Wisconsin as gas prices skyrocket again

Madison, WI –  Despite diesel prices hitting multiple record highs this week, Derrick Van Orden and the majority of the WI GOP House members voted once again to support Trump’s reckless war with Iran that is driving up energy costs. Tom Tiffany did not vote on the resolution but has notably voted five times before in support of the war. This vote comes on top of the GOP’s support of the Trump administration’s efforts to gut cleaner, cheaper, homegrown energy, further compounding the affordability crisis Wisconsin families are experiencing.

Here are just a few ways Wisconsin is worse off thanks to Trump, Tiffany and Van Orden:

  • Since Trump’s war started, gas prices in Wisconsin have increased by more than 51%.
  • Wisconsin has hit daily record-high diesel prices in the past week, starting Friday, Sept 11th at $5.89 per gallon and rising to $6.11 per gallon on Sept. 15.
  • Since Trump took office, average residential electricity prices in Wisconsin have increased by 13%.

Meanwhile, Wisconsin farmers are already struggling to make ends meet, and bankruptcy filings among Wisconsin farmers increased eightfold from 2024 to 2025.

Wisconsin families and farmers are suffering because of Trump’s war in Iran. Why won’t Rep. Tiffany and Rep. Van Orden stand up to Trump and stand up for the people of Wisconsin?
