MADISON, Wis. — A new Common Cause leader will drive the organization’s pro-democracy work in Wisconsin, as Bianca Shaw joins the team as its newest state director. In this role, Shaw will focus on increasing campaign finance transparency; advancing nonpartisan redistricting to end gerrymandering; and strengthening protections for election administration, including safeguards for voters and election workers.

“Bianca’s passion for an inclusive democracy and nearly two decades of coalition building experience will serve the people of Wisconsin well in her new role,” said Common Cause President and CEO, Virginia Kase Solomón. “We are proud to have Bianca leading the way, earning more wins for the people, serving as a watchdog, and championing accessibility to our democracy for all, especially historically marginalized communities.”

Shaw is an expert strategist and pro-democracy advocate with more than 16 years of leadership experience spanning non-profit organizations, state and local governance, and national campaigns. Prior to joining Common Cause, she served as the president of the Wisconsin Women’s Network and the cross-state senior campaign manager for All Voting is Local, where she advanced strategies to protect democracy and expand access to the ballot across eight key states, including in Wisconsin.

“I am proud of the organization’s legacy and honored to help further its mission as the next state director,” Shaw said. “In my work, I’ve continually seen the impact Common Cause has in Wisconsin, both in the legislature and out in the field assisting voters. Wisconsin faces critical challenges ahead of the upcoming midterms, and I am ready to lead our team as we continue to hold our leaders accountable so all Wisconsinites can make their voices heard.”

Shaw’s career has included service as a political appointee at the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families where she directed the Office of Urban Development and oversaw equitable childcare initiatives, distributing more than $2.2 million in funding. She has also led workforce and economic development efforts through the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development and advised state policy in the legislature.
