Third CD Dem Rebecca Cooke in a new ad says “we need more working-class fighters” in Congress as she touts an endorsement from U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vermont.

The 30-second spot is running on broadcast and cable in the La Crosse, Wausau, Madison and Minneapolis media markets as well as streaming services throughout the district, according to a Cooke campaign spokesperson.

Cooke is running against former Eau Claire City Council President Emily Berge in the Aug. 11 Democratic primary. The winner will face GOP U.S. Rep. Derrick Van Orden in November.

The ad opens with images of a 2025 rally in Viroqua as part of Sanders’ “Fighting Oligarchy” tour.

“We need members of Congress who today have the guts to fight for the needs of working families,” Sanders says.

The ad goes on to show Cooke speaking at the rally and interacting with Sanders and other attendees.

“We need more working-class fighters in Washington. It’s why I won’t take a dime from corporate PACS or AIPACS, won’t trade a single stock while in Congress and I’ll fight to ban insider trading and root out corruption in Washington,” Cooke says.

The ad ends with Sanders saying, “Rebecca Cooke, we’re gonna need her in Washington.”
