EAU CLAIRE, Wisc. – Today, Rebecca Cooke, candidate for Congress in Wisconsin’s Third Congressional District, adds to her broad coalition of support with endorsements from 50 local elected officials from every corner of the District. These endorsements from community leaders across West Central Wisconsin shows the growing momentum of Rebecca’s campaign to defeat Derrick Van Orden.

“I’ve spent time speaking with folks on county board, city council and school board all across the 3rd Congressional District asking about the most pressing issues in their communities,” said Rebecca Cooke.”These are the people working every day to move our communities forward — and they know we need representation in Congress that fights for our small towns, working families, and way of life. “I’m proud to endorse Rebecca Cooke — a real working-class leader for WI-03 that knows the needs of the district first-hand. She will fight income inequality and bring power to the people, detoxing our country from the political influence of the wealthy,” said Clara Serrano, Eau Claire City Council Member.

“In local leadership, you quickly see who is willing to put in the time to understand communities and show up. Rebecca Cooke has done that consistently, especially when it comes to the needs of our rural Wisconsin communities,” said Josh Pettis, Mayor of Osseo.

“It is time for a new approach to getting things done in Washington DC. We need less divisiveness and anger, and more planning and working together. My neighbors, small businesses, schools, and hospitals are struggling with the excessive costs of living, and Washington’s solutions are to cut services, increase tariffs and promote wars. Rebecca Cooke has the knowledge, skills, and hometown beliefs to listen to people and to bring them together to help make our small-town way of life thrive and grow,” said Rachel Schultz, Richland Center City Council Member.

“Rebecca is a smart and bold leader – someone we can trust to represent Wisconsin values / or, our values in Washington,” said Alison Page, Mayor of River Falls.

“As an alderperson for the City of Wisconsin Rapids, I’ve seen firsthand how critical strong leadership is to the success of our communities. Rebecca Cooke brings that leadership, grounded in real-world experience. She understands what it means to take a risk, build something from the ground up, and invest in a community.  Rebecca is committed to strengthening our local economies by building meaningful coalitions with small business owners and maintaining an open, ongoing dialogue about how to revitalize our Main Streets. Her vision to establish a regional investment fund for second-stage business growth is exactly the kind of forward-thinking approach we need.

“Equally important to me is Rebecca’s unwavering support for working families. Coming from a union family myself, I value leaders who understand the importance of organized labor and the role it plays in building a strong middle class. Rebecca shares those values.  She also recognizes the importance of preserving the integrity of Registered Apprenticeship Programs. Rebecca Cooke truly understands the challenges facing working people today,” said Justin Pluess, Wisconsin Rapids City Council Member.

“Rebecca ran circles around the other democrats running for Wisconsin’s 3rd at a forum in Stevens Point in April. We need a candidate who not only knows what will make the lives of working class Wisconsinites better, but someone ready to implement that legislation on day one in Washington. She’s poised, mission-driven, and has done her legislative homework. She has my vote in August. Rebecca is most prepared to beat DVO in November and take back the House. For Wisconsin. And for the comfort and dignity of hard-working Americans everywhere. Vote Cooke for Congress,” said Jacqui Guthrie, Stevens Point City Council Member

Rebecca is also endorsed by U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin, U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders, U.S. Senator Elissa Slotkin, Pete Buttigieg, 16 Members of Congress, State Senator Brad Pfaff, Iron Workers Locals 383 and 512, the Communications Workers of America (CWA), Wisconsin State Council of Machinists, AFSCME, International Union of Painters and Allied Trades District Councils 7 & 82, Office and Professional Employees International Union, Sheet Metal, Air, Rail, and Transportation (SMART) Union, UFCW Local 1473, Wisconsin Laborers’ District Council, IBEW State Conference, NRDC Action Fund, League of Conservation Voters, American Association for Justice (AAJ), End Citizens United, the Blue Dog Coalition, the New Dem Action Fund, Elect Democratic Women, EMILY’s List, and the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare PAC. She’s garnered the support of a broad coalition of farmers, small business owners, educators and healthcare workers across western Wisconsin.
