EAU CLAIRE, Wisc. – Today, Rebecca Cooke, candidate for Congress in Wisconsin’s Third Congressional District, added to her strong labor backing with an endorsement from the Wisconsin Education Association Council (WEAC).
“I’m so proud to have the support of Wisconsin educators who make our public schools strong,” said Rebecca Cooke. “They know that I’m always going to fight for better jobs and better wages and the ability for all our West Central Wisconsin kids to get a quality education. Working class Wisconsinites are ready for real leadership, and that’s what I’ll deliver for the Third Congressional District.”
“Rebecca Cooke is a waitress, a small business owner and the daughter of farmers,” said Peggy Wirtz-Olsen, teacher and WEAC President, “She shares the values of every educator I know. We believe in hard work, fairness, and creating opportunities for students to get ahead, and so does she. She will be a strong voice for educators in Washington, and that is what we need most of all right now.”
This latest endorsement adds to Rebecca’s broad coalition of support from Wisconsin organized labor. Rebecca is also endorsed by the Iron Workers Locals 383 and 512, the Communications Workers of America (CWA), the Wisconsin State Council of Machinists, AFSCME, International Union of Painters and Allied Trades District Councils 7 & 82, Office and Professional Employees International Union, Sheet Metal, Air, Rail, and Transportation (SMART) Union, UFCW Local 1473, Wisconsin Laborers’ District Council, and IBEW State Conference. She’s garnered the support of a broad coalition of farmers, small business owners, educators, and healthcare workers across western Wisconsin.
