Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley declared victory early this morning in his pursuit of the Democratic nomination to be Wisconsin’s next governor.
A Crowley spokesperson said state Rep. Francesca Hong, who was trailing Crowley by about 3,000 votes in unofficial returns, had called the county executive to concede. A Hong spokesperson didn’t immediately respond to a text seeking confirmation.
Crowley campaign manager Garren Randolph quickly turned his attention to GOP nominee Tom Tiffany, a congressman from Minocqua. He cast the general election as a choice between leadership focused on solving problems or “the division and extremism of Tom Tiffany and Donald Trump.”
“David is ready to get back to work, build a broad coalition, and win in November,” Randolph said.
