DANE COUNTY – Dane County Executive Melissa Agard today congratulated Wisconsin’s newly elected statewide leaders following Tuesday’s historic election, including Governor-elect David Crowley, who will become the first African American governor in Wisconsin history.

“Last night, Wisconsin made history, and I couldn’t be more excited about what comes next,” said County Executive Agard. “Congratulations to Governor-elect David Crowley on his historic victory, Attorney General Josh Kaul, Sarah Godlewski, Jocasta Zamarripa, and Yee Leng Xiong. These victories represent important milestones for our state and reflect the diversity and strength of the people of Wisconsin.”

Agard also congratulated Senate Democratic Leader Dianne Hesselbein and Assembly Democratic Leader Greta Neubauer for their leadership in securing Democratic majorities in both chambers of the Wisconsin Legislature.

“Beyond the historic nature of these victories, the people of Wisconsin sent a clear message. Folks want a government that works for everyday people, not just the wealthiest among us. They want their elected leaders focused on the issues that matter most in their daily lives, from affordable housing and quality education to accessible healthcare and economic opportunity.

“Dane County is ready to be a strong partner in that work. I look forward to working with the Crowley administration and our legislative leaders to build on the progress we’ve made, address the challenges facing our communities, and deliver meaningful results for the people we serve.

“There is good, hard work ahead of us, and I am excited to get started.”
