Today, Protect Our Wisconsin, a group backed by the Democratic Governors Association, launched two ads, slamming Republican Congressman Tom Tiffany for his extreme anti-choice record and MAGA agenda that is harming Wisconsinites. The ads, which are airing on both TV and streaming platforms, focus on Tiffany’s support for criminalizing abortion and working to overturn the 2020 election in favor of Donald Trump – showcasing exactly why his agenda is too extreme for Wisconsin.
Tiffany proudly co-sponsored a nationwide ban on abortion — without exceptions for victims of rape or incest — that would outlaw the procedure before many women know they’re pregnant. He has also voted against legislation that would protect women’s ability to get the care they need, including a bipartisan bill to protect Wisconsin women’s ability to cross state lines to obtain legal abortions and another bill that would have ensured a woman’s right to contraception. And his support for Republicans’ disastrous budget law already once prompted Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin to stop scheduling abortion appointments.
Tiffany also voted against certifying the 2020 election, signed on to a brief to overturn the outcome of that year’s election, and has pushed dangerous and debunked conspiracy theories about the election being stolen. He has repeatedly refused to answer whether the 2020 election was stolen, while also endorsing a conspiracy theory-driven investigation of Wisconsin election officials. He even wants to get rid of mail-in voting, despite voting by mail himself a dozen times.
