MADISON — Wisconsin proudly celebrates Public Schools Week, Feb. 23-27, 2026, recognizing the critical role public schools play in strengthening communities, supporting families, and preparing the next generation of leaders.
Public Schools Week is an opportunity to honor the dedicated educators, administrators, and school staff who serve students across the state — and to celebrate the moments happening each day in classrooms that inspire learning, creativity, and opportunity.
“This week is our chance to recognize our public schools, which open their doors to every child, regardless of background or circumstance,” State Superintendent Dr. Jill Underly said. “Public education is the foundation of our democracy. It equips students with the ability to think critically, solve problems, and actively contribute to their communities. When we support our public schools, we strengthen our communities and help develop the workforce that drives Wisconsin’s economy.”
Public Schools Weeks serves as a reminder that strong public schools are the heart of strong communities. And that investing in education is an investment in Wisconsin’s future.
In honor of Public Schools Week, Dr. Underly released a special video message expressing her gratitude for Wisconsin’s public schools and the communities that support them.
Throughout the week, schools and communities are encouraged to share stories, highlight student achievements, and thank the educators and staff who make a difference every day.
