MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is announcing a new DCI Electronic Storage Detection (ESD) canine named Granger. Granger assists with investigations around the state of Wisconsin that require the detection of electronics.

“Electronic storage detection canines are a great asset to the Wisconsin Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force,” said Attorney General Josh Kaul. “We’re fortunate to have Granger on the team and helping to hold accountable those who commit internet crimes against children.”

Granger and his handler, Special Agent Kade Goodrich, are primarily assigned to assist with Internet Crimes Against Children investigations, however, ESD canines have proven to be useful in a variety of investigations. Granger can also be used to provide comfort to children during investigations and court proceedings. Special Agent Goodrich and Granger are based out of DCI’s Milwaukee field office; however, they travel around the state to assist where they are needed.

Special Agent Goodrich and Granger participated in Jordan Detection’s ESD Canine Training Program in Indiana. In addition to daily trainings and operations, Special Agent Goodrich and Granger will participate in annual recertifications with Jordan Detection. Granger was donated to Wisconsin DOJ by Light Their Way, an organization dedicated to combating human trafficking.

When Granger is not working, he is your typical yellow lab. He is two and half years old. Granger is playful, happy, sweet, and hard-working. He enjoys cuddling and playing.His favorite toy is baby Yoda.

Granger joins Wisconsin DOJ as the second ESD canine on the team, along with canine Moose.
