MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is responding to a recently reported manure spill in Kewaunee County.
Early Friday morning, Jan. 9, the DNR was notified of manure discharging from an agricultural field to an intermittent stream that connects to Rio Creek. The cause of the spill appears to be recent heavy rainfall, which washed the manure off the cropland where it was applied. The field is located east of Casco along Highway 54 and is operated by El Na Farms.
DNR staff are on site monitoring the situation, and the farm is actively cleaning up the discharge.
