Democrats create new blue firewall in a critical battleground ahead of the presidential elections
WASHINGTON — In a massive win for the balance of power in the nation’s statehouses, Democrats have flipped both legislative chambers in Wisconsin creating a Democratic trifecta for the first time since the 2010 Red Wave. Breaking the GOP’s control of the legislature in Wisconsin was a top priority for the DLCC this cycle after years of chipping away at the entrenched Republican majorities on rigged maps. This is a stunning reversal of power in a state where Republicans rigged themselves into majorities for over a decade.
The DLCC has worked hand in hand with our partners in Wisconsin to build power in this ultra-competitive state. Democrats beat back millions in spending from ultraconservative billionaires trying to hold on to a Republican majority. On a record-breaking night for Democrats across the country, Wisconsin proved what is possible when we invest at the state legislative ballot level—solidifying durable Democratic power to protect voting and civil rights, oversee elections, and shape redistricting maps.
