August 20, 2026 – Door County, Wisconsin – Nonprofit staff, board members, volunteers, and others who work with nonprofit organizations are invited to a free training session focused on nonprofit insurance on Thursday, September 24 in the Captain’s Quarters of the Door County Maritime Museum. Registration and a light breakfast will take place from 8 – 8:30 a.m., followed by the training session from 8:30 – 11:30 a.m.
The morning will feature a practical, educational, and engaging look at the insurance needs of nonprofit organizations. Participants will learn about commercial insurance policies and how coverage designed for for-profit businesses may not always address the unique risks nonprofits face. The session will explore commonly overlooked insurance needs, strategies nonprofits can use to better protect their organizations, and important coverage considerations including general liability, professional liability, abuse liability, directors and officers coverage, and more.
The session will be led by Jeff Bykowski, who has worked with nonprofit insurance since 2006 in several roles within the insurance industry. Bykowski currently serves as a Lead Agent Educator, hosting seminars and webinars about insurance and coaching insurance agents on how to effectively serve nonprofit organizations. He has presented his nonprofit insurance seminar to thousands of agents across 43 states.
Bykowski promises to “rip up the script” for this session, adapting material normally presented to insurance professionals specifically for nonprofit leaders. The presentation will be educational rather than a sales pitch, with Bykowski bringing humor–and even a little music–to what can otherwise be an intimidating topic. The goal is to provide Door County
nonprofit leaders with useful, accessible information they can put to work for their organizations.
