MADISON, WI – Gathering Waters: Wisconsin’s Alliance for Land Trusts presents the ninth annual Wisconsin Land Trust Days, a series of nature-based events hosted by land trusts from July 1 through September 30. Land trusts are non-profit organizations dedicated to permanent land conservation. In Wisconsin, over 40 land trusts protect more than 500,000 acres.

Land Trust Days celebrates land trusts and the important work they do protecting Wisconsin’s land, water, and wildlife. In 2026, 22 Wisconsin land trusts, and Gathering Waters, will host 42 events that are open to the public and offer a variety of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors.

Participants can experience Wisconsin’s unique landscapes by hiking, biking, paddling, and even stargazing. Educational opportunities that are great for the whole family will highlight butterflies and birds. Adults can appreciate nature with a citizen science project or wind down with a guided mindfulness walk. Volunteers can help build part of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail. “Land Trust Days is our invitation to Wisconsin residents to see conservation in action and have fun outside,” said Charles Carlin, Chief Strategy Officer at Gathering Waters. “By partnering with land trusts statewide, we’re helping people build real connections with the protected places that make Wisconsin special, many of which are open and waiting to be discovered year-round.”

During Land Trust Days, Gathering Waters also provides free printed event calendars and Wisconsin Nature Guides by request.
