MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers today announced his appointment of Aaron Towns to the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) Board of Directors. This appointment fills a vacancy created by the resignation of John Brogan.
“Aaron is a respected member of the business community and brings a wealth of experience from a variety of sectors,” said Gov. Evers. “The work of this board is critical to advancing the prosperity of Wisconsin’s booming business community, and I believe Aaron and the expertise he brings to the table will be an excellent addition to the board moving forward.”

Towns has over 20 years of experience across finance, operations, and technology. He is currently the Director of Commercial Banking Wisconsin at BMO Financial Group, where he has provided leadership for commercial banking, economic development partnerships, innovation initiatives, and strategic client engagement across Wisconsin since 2013.
Towns earned a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems and Business Marketing from Xavier University and completed the Young American Leaders Program at Harvard Business School. While in his current position at BMO, Towns serves as Business Committee Co-Chair for Project REACh and as a Steering Committee Member and Strategic Advisor for Innovation and Strategic Partnerships for Summerfest Tech. His broader work focuses on expanding access to capital, reducing financial barriers, fostering innovation, and strengthening economic opportunity for businesses and communities. Towns is also actively engaged in civic, educational, and economic development initiatives across Wisconsin. His leadership has included roles as Vice Chair and board member of the Milwaukee Academy of Science and Executive Board member of the Kenosha Innovation Neighborhood.
WEDC’s board of directors is composed of state legislators, departmental secretaries, and individuals from the private sector with relevant business-related experience. The board of directors provides WEDC with strategic leadership and operational oversight, representing statewide public and private economic development interests.
