MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers today, following the November 3rd General Election, delivered his weekly radio address thanking the local clerks, election administrators, poll workers, voter education groups, and postal service workers for their dedicated work to ensure Wisconsin once again had a fair, safe, and secure election. This comes as, last month, Gov. Evers declared October 20 “Election Hero Day” in conjunction with national observances.

A transcript of the governor’s radio address is available below.

Hey there, folks! Governor Tony Evers here.

I declared 2026 the Year of the Neighbor in Wisconsin because I want to spend this year celebrating the wonderful neighbors who make our state the great place it is to call home.

And that includes our dedicated local clerks, election administrators, poll workers, voter education groups, and postal service workers, all of whom make sure we can all cast our ballots and make our voices heard in our democracy.

Our state has fair, safe, and secure elections because of all of them.

These folks are our friends and neighbors who often volunteer their time to make sure we can exercise our most basic and fundamental rights as Americans.

They work tirelessly to promote voter engagement and participation, protect access to the ballot box, and make sure every eligible ballot is counted.

And they do so out of a sense of duty. They do it because it’s the right thing to do. They do it because they are good neighbors. That’s extraordinary.

And while election administration is never an easy responsibility, these folks have faced immense, unprecedented challenges over the past few years, but they have never failed to display courage, resilience, and dedication.

So, on behalf of an entire state, I want to express my sincere appreciation for all those who work tirelessly to protect the integrity of our elections and provide safe, secure, and accessible voting experiences for voters all across Wisconsin.

You are heroes to me, to our neighbors and to our communities, and to our democracy.

And I encourage all Wisconsinites, next time you cast your ballot—and I hope you did so this week—to join me in thanking the folks who make it happen. Thank you.
