WAUSAU, WI — State Representative Brent Jacobson today announced his endorsement of Kevin Hermening in the Republican primary for Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District, citing Hermening’s experience, local roots, and commitment to serving the people of North Central Wisconsin.

“When I look at the field of candidates running for Congress, I can think of no one better than Kevin Hermening,” Jacobson said. “Kevin has roots right here in our community. He served on our local school board, built a home here, raised a family, and built a successful business. That’s the kind of person I want representing us in Congress.”

Jacobson, who represents Mosinee and surrounding communities, previously served as Mayor of Mosinee and as a Marathon County Board Supervisor. During that time, he worked alongside Hermening while Hermening served on the Mosinee School Board, giving him firsthand insight into Hermening’s leadership and commitment to the community.

Hermening welcomed the endorsement and emphasized the importance of support from leaders who know the district and have worked with him directly. “I’m grateful for Representative Jacobson’s support and for the opportunity we had to work together serving the Mosinee community,” Hermening said. “This campaign is about representing the people of the 7th District – not special interests or political insiders. Just the people who live and work here.”

Hermening, a Marine veteran, small business owner, and longtime community leader, has emphasized affordability, fiscal responsibility, and restoring accountability in Washington as core priorities of his campaign

The Republican primary election will be held August 11, 2026.
