May 19, 2026 – Milwaukee County Clerk of Circuit Court Anna Maria Hodges will be a candidate for reelection in the Democratic primary on Tuesday, August 11 and in the general election on Tuesday, November 3.

“Four years ago, I promised our community that I would work tirelessly to achieve a more efficient and accessible justice system for all,” said Hodges. “My administration and I have kept that promise. We sustained innovative programs that help renters and self-represented litigants, prevented federal funding cuts from eliminating community-facing programs, and carefully managed our budget to achieve proper court system staffing while protecting taxpayer dollars.”

“In my second term, I will build upon the foundation laid over the past four years, working collaboratively with partners across our community to continue expanding access to justice. Additionally, as we approach the construction of a new criminal courthouse for Milwaukee County, I will provide the experienced and informed leadership required to steer our justice system through a period of change and innovation. I would be honored by your support this August and November.”

Multiple civic leaders have endorsed Hodges’ candidacy for reelection, including Marcelia Nicholson, Chairwoman of the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors. “Anna Maria Hodges is a champion for justice, equity, and innovation in public service,” said Chairwoman Nicholson. “She leads with integrity and independence, always standing strong for our community and uplifting the rights and dignity of individuals navigating the justice system. I am proud to endorse her.”

Milwaukee County Supervisor Willie Johnson Jr., the longest-serving member of the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors, also endorsed Hodges. “Milwaukee County residents deserve the highest standards of public service, and that is what Clerk of Circuit Court Anna Maria Hodges demonstrates each and every day,” said Supervisor Johnson. “Clerk Hodges is a dedicated public servant and consummate professional who understands Milwaukee County’s court system in detail.  I fully endorse her campaign for reelection.”

Hodges is the first Afro-Latina Clerk of Circuit Court in Wisconsin history. Prior to her election in 2022, she had served as the Acting Clerk of Circuit Court, Chief Deputy Clerk of Circuit Court, Assistant Chief Deputy Clerk of Circuit Court and Civil Division Administrator, Court Coordinator in the Chief Judge’s Office, Deputy Director of the Governor’s Milwaukee Office, and Constituent Services Manager in the Milwaukee County Executive’s Office.

Hodges, a resident of Brown Deer, graduated magna cum laude from Cardinal Stritch University with a bachelor’s degree in management. She is a proud mother and grandmother and is active in her church and community.
