VIROQUA, WI – Today, Democrat for Governor and former head of Wisconsin Economic Development, Missy Hughes outlined her plans to defend Wisconsin families and stand up to Trump’s chaos and Tom Tiffany’s obedience. In releasing her plan, Missy stated:
“Right now Wisconsin families are facing a never-ending series of crises caused by Donald Trump’s corrupt disregard for the rule of law, and Tom Tiffany’s obedience. We need leadership that is strategic and principled to directly take on this corruption and move Wisconsin families forward. I am the only candidate who has actually stopped Trump’s corruption here in Wisconsin, and the only candidate with the ability and plan to stand up to this unlawful administration that is hurting Wisconsin families.”
“As Governor, I will be ready on day one to protect Wisconsin families from the corrupt and dangerous Trump-Tiffany schemes that are threatening Wisconsin families’ right to vote, stripping away our healthcare, destroying our economy, and breaking the law for their own gain.”

Here are five actions Missy will take on day one as Governor to protect Wisconsin families and stand up to Trump and his sidekick Tom Tiffany:
1. Defend Your Right To Vote
Missy will make our already safe and secure elections even stronger from federal attacks so that Wisconsin voters decide Wisconsin elections, not Trump and Tiffany. As a lawyer, Missy knows how to use the law to protect our rights from illegal attacks.
If the federal government tries to step in and access Wisconsin’s voter rolls or interfere with how we run our elections, before or after votes are cast, Missy will take them to court immediately and take legal action to protect our local clerks from interference. Missy will deploy legal experts across targeted voting precincts to ensure that no voter is intimidated or turned away. In Wisconsin, your vote belongs to you, not politicians in Washington.
2. Protect Your Healthcare From Federal Attacks
Trump, Tiffany, and RFK slashed our healthcare to pay for tax breaks for their wealthy allies and to push their dangerous political agendas. As Governor, Missy will strengthen Wisconsin’s healthcare system to keep us safe from these attacks.
Missy will expand BadgerCare and create a public option so that Wisconsinites aren’t reliant on federal programs to access healthcare. She will import low-cost prescription drugs from Canada to lower prices for life-saving medicine. And Missy will take on Tiffany’s insurance company allies, prohibiting the use of AI to deny care, and blocking excessive premium rate-hikes.
Missy will confront RFK’s dangerous and anti-scientific attacks on our public health, ensuring that Wisconsin families are able to access vaccines. She will prioritize Wisconsin’s world-class health care infrastructure and boost investment in game-changing research aimed at finding cures for Alzheimer’s, cancer, and other deadly diseases.
3. Stop The Corruption That Is Raising Your Costs
Trump and Tiffany’s corrupt actions are unlawfully taking money out of Wisconsinites’ pockets. From stripping away our healthcare to imposing illegal tariffs to warmongering in the Middle East, Trump and Tiffany’s cronies are benefiting at the expense of Wisconsinites.
Missy will empower the Attorney General’s office with the authority and resources needed to stop federal overreach and prevent illegal power grabs before they take hold.
Trump’s corrupt network of self-dealing reaches across our entire country. As Governor Missy will stop any state dollars from flowing into this network, and empower local prosecutors to pursue any of Trump’s corruption that has a foothold in Wisconsin. For instance, Missy will bar the Wisconsin National Guard and state and local law enforcement from purchasing equipment from companies, like Foundation Industries – a drone company owned by Trump’s family* – without a comprehensive audit and strict accountability measures to ensure that our tax dollars aren’t lining the pockets of Trump’s family.
As Governor, Missy will assemble a team to investigate and prosecute corruption, self-dealing, and cronyism so that everyone plays by the same set of rules, whether in the state legislature, the Governor’s office, or the Oval Office.
4. Stop ICE Invasions In Your Community
As Governor, Missy will confront ICE’s abuses and protect Wisconsin communities from unlawful overreach. And as Commander-in-Chief of the Wisconsin National Guard, Missy will block any federal attempts to misuse the Guard for Trump and Tiffany’s dangerous power grabs or political theater tactics.
Missy will enforce the law to ensure no Wisconsin law enforcement offices are illegally cooperating with ICE, and she’ll make sure no state dollars are used to support Trump and Tiffany’s illegal actions.
5. Claw Back The Money Stolen From You By Illegal Tariffs
On day one of her administration, Missy will go on the offensive to claw back Trump and Tiffany’s illegal tariff taxes which have cost Wisconsinites billions of dollars, with Wisconsin families paying over $2,200 more each year on average*, using every tool at her disposal. Missy will return those dollars back to the people, businesses, and farmers of Wisconsin who have struggled with higher prices driven by Trump and Tiffany’s illegal tariff scheme.
And Missy will direct her administration to track and publicly report, through a fully transparent, publicly available online scorecard, any federal funds that are withheld or redirected, and to take legal action to recover the money Wisconsinites are owed.
When Trump and Tiffany’s Washington unlawfully takes money from Wisconsin families to line their own pockets, like Trump’s extortion of $10 billion from the IRS*, Missy will fight to get it back.
