Plover, WI—Sporting an Abraham Lincoln hat, Democraticgovernor candidate, carpenter, former state representative Brett Hulsey welcomed Vice President J.D. Vance to Wisconsin and invited him to visit Ripon today to explore the Republican Party’s anti-racist and anti-slavery roots.
I challenge VP Vance, President Trump and Rep. Van Orden to do the same and end the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids across our great country. Those raids include masked, armed ICE agents roaming our streets, illegally arresting citizens, kidnapping students from daycare centers, and killing innocent people peacefully protesting their Constitutional rights. ICE agents in Minneapolis brutally murdered Alex Pretti, a Green Bay educated VA nurse, shooting him in the back many times, and Renee Good, a mother of three, trying to drive away in her car.
In addition, ICE raids are hurting Wisconsin Dairy State businesses and industries. A 2023 UW Madison study found immigrants milk 7-in-10 Wisconsin dairy cows. Our farmers are having a hard time finding help.[1] For instance, Manitowoc County farmers concerned about ICE raids after 24 undocumented immigrants arrested.
As governor, I will request more immigration judges and lawyers to address the 20,000 people backlogged in immigrant approval system in Wisconsin[2], that included 37, 982 in Minnesota and 3,416,982 backlogged immigration cases in the US.[3]
If you want to make progress to solve the immigration problem, you can start Mr. Vice President by sending us more immigration judges and lawyers to process undocumented immigrants, not more masked attackers to round up, torture, and kill Americans. As the first Republican President Abraham Lincoln said, ‘You can’t fool all the people all the time.’ Go Badgers and great job Team USA”
