A progressive group has launched a new TV ad praising liberal Chris Taylor as the best choice for state Supreme Court.

The Judicial Action Network didn’t respond to messages seeking details about the buy. AdImpact first tracked the ad airing in the Milwaukee market yesterday. The group filed a report with the state detailing $14,466 to support Taylor, including $9,466 on video production.

The narrator in the spot calls Taylor a respected appellate judge who spent her career “fighting for our families, defending abortion rights, working with law enforcement to stop domestic violence and protecting survivors.”

The narrator ends the ad, “Chris Taylor, endorsed by leading organizations, workers, and over 100 judges across Wisconsin. Chris Taylor for Supreme Court, protecting our rights, defending our freedom.”

As of this morning, AdImpact had also tracked nearly $2.5 million in buys from Taylor, a member of the 4th District Court of Appeals and $1.2 million from A Better Wisconsin Together, which has been knocking conservative Maria Lazar.

AdImpact has also tracked $188,000 of what the ACLU says will be a $450,000 effort in the race. While the group said the spots will be nonpartisan, in the past it has knocked conservatives on issues such as abortion.

Lazar, a member of the 2nd District Court of Appeals, had reserved nearly $157,000 in buys as of this morning. According to AdImpact, she isn’t currently on the air. The conservative Restoration PAC has filed an independent expenditure report detailing $40,000 in digital ads backing Lazar. AdImpact hadn’t tracked any of that as of this afternoon.
