The Libertarian Party of Wisconsin (LPWI) has voted to join a lawsuit challenging Wisconsin’s ban on out-of-state petition circulators, arguing the restriction violates constitutional rights and limits ballot access.
The lawsuit, being prepared in coordination with the Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty and other plaintiffs, seeks to overturn the ban as an infringement on First Amendment protections and the right to engage in lawful work.
“This law restricts political participation and limits access to the ballot,” said Reese Wood, Chair of the Libertarian Party of Wisconsin. “Ballot access is a fundamental part of a free and open political system.”
Additional support comes from allied organizations, including Americans for Citizen Voting PAC.
“This is about protecting the rights of individuals to speak, work, and participate in the democratic process,” Wood added.
The LPWI continues to advocate for improved ballot access and fewer barriers for candidates and voters.
