Altoona, Wis. – It’s Dairy Month in America’s Dairyland! Growing up in rural
Wisconsin, I know the hard work that our farmers put in to ensure that we have quality
foods grown right here, at home.
We all know that Wisconsin is the number one dairy state, and as your state senator
supporting our farmers will be a top priority for me. Up to 99% of our state’s dairy farms
are family owned, and the industry generates $52.8 billion in total economic impact.
Supporting farmers isn’t only important for the food supply, it’s the backbone of our
state’s economy.
This June, I had the opportunity to meet many farmers and other people who have
dedicated their lives to the success of our dairy industry. Getting out and enjoying our
county’s annual dairy breakfast is just one of the ways to celebrate dairy month and
grow in knowledge and appreciation for all that our farmers provide.
I look forward to the opportunity to meet more members of our community as we
celebrate dairy month and our nation’s 250th birthday!
