Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors: Supervisor Justin Bielinski: “Get the Flock out of Milwaukee County!” – Parks Committee advances resolution to remove Flock cameras from Milwaukee County Parks 

Full County Board to consider resolution Thursday

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee County Board’s Committee on Parks and Culture today unanimously approved a resolution directing the removal of fixed Flock Condor and automated license plate reader (ALPR) camera equipment from Milwaukee County Park property.

The resolution is now expected to come before the full Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors for consideration on Thursday, October 1.

If adopted, the resolution would direct the Department of Parks, Recreation and Culture, in consultation with Corporation Counsel, to remove all fixed Flock Condor and ALPR camera equipment from County property zoned as parks and to report to the Board upon completion of the removal before the end of the year. 

The resolution was authored by Supervisor Justin Bielinski and cosponsored by Supervisors Juan Miguel Martinez, Jack Eckblad, Anne O’Connor, Caroline Gómez-Tom, Shawn Rolland, Leevan Roundtree, and Steven Shea.

Said Bielinski: “I want to thank all of my colleagues for their support on this resolution. With great power comes great responsibility. Big tech has proven themselves time and again to be ill-suited to this responsibility. It is critical that we as elected officials ensure whatever technology is being used in our name respects civil liberties – for everyone. I can’t wait to finally get the Flock out of Milwaukee County Parks!”
