Monroe, Wis. – Former U.S. Senator Russ Feingold (D-WI) has issued his first public endorsement in 6 years to Josh
Mittness in the race for the Wisconsin Assembly District 50 seat. Feingold states, ā€œ[I’m] proud to endorse my fellow
Janesville native, Josh Mittness, for Assembly. He will be a great progressive voice for Southern Wisconsin in his
family’s tradition.ā€

Mittness, who has now been a resident of Monroe for several years, expressed deep appreciation for Feingold’s
endorsement and for the advice he shared in conversation. ā€œIt is the honor of a lifetime to have received this
endorsement. I’m fighting hard for working families, just as Senator Feingold did in Madison and in Washington.ā€

The fight Mittness talks about is part of a long-standing family tradition. His grandfather, Lewis T. Mittness, was a
member of the Wisconsin State Assembly from 1965 to 1975. He was then appointed as Executive Secretary to the
Wisconsin Public Service Commission, where he served from 1975 to 1980, before serving as Assembly Sergeant at
Arms from 1981 to 1984. Lew was instrumental in passing legislation for environmental protections, more stringent
drunk driving laws, and affirmative action.

After his mother was killed by a drunk driver just outside of Albany when he was just 9 months old, Josh was raised in
Janesville by his grandparents, Lew and Ruth, who instilled in him the values of civic duty, integrity, and compassion.
Before Lew passed away in 2006, Josh made him a promise to continue the tradition of standing up for everyday
Wisconsinites and fighting for a better future for everyone. ā€œI intend to do just that,ā€ Mittness says firmly. He also
notes that Senator Feingold was an important inspiration for him to get involved in state politics.

Along with Feingold’s endorsement, Mittness’ other notable endorsements include retired radio announcer and
current podcast host John ā€˜Sly’ Sylvester, Monroe City Alder Chris Vestin, former Monroe School District
Superintendent Rick Waski, Green County Board Supervisors Franz Varga and Nicole Wilcox, and former Assistant
City Administrator for the City of Monroe Sam Liebert.

Josh resides in rural Monroe with his fiancƩ, their children, and a lively household of pets. Aside from engaging in
modern politics, he is also a political history buff and is quick to share a memorable quote from the great figures of
America’s past.
