SOUTH MILWAUKEE, WI – The campaign of Mike Moeller, Republican candidate for
Wisconsin’s 7th State Senate District, today issued the following statement in response to
Senator Chris Larson’s video endorsement of gubernatorial candidate Francesca Hong:

We understand why Senator Larson is active. He spent nearly six minutes talking about
coalitions, community meetings, and building something fundamentally diƯerent in
Madison. That kind of energy matters, and we don’t doubt it’s genuine. But we hear
something diƯerent when we knock on doors in Oak Creek, South Milwaukee, Cudahy, St.
Francis and Milwaukee. Families are worried about the cost of groceries, their property
taxes, and whether their kids have a good school and a safe place to grow up. When a lot of
them hear the words ‘Democratic Socialist,’ it doesn’t sound like hope, it sounds like fear.
Fear of higher costs, fear of bigger government, fear of a direction for this State that doesn’t
match how they were raised or what they have built. That fear is real, and it deserves to be
taken seriously, not dismissed.

With Larson’s endorsement of Francesca Hong, we’ve found that it has divided his own base.
Even within his own party, this is a fight within the Democrat Party that is tearing it apart
and creating more fear and uncertainty. Even Governor Evers, and much of the Democrat
Party establishment, moved to bring David Crowley back into the governor’s race
specifically to stop Ms. Hong’s candidacy, worried that her politics are too far left to win in
November. If Senator Larson’s own party is divided over this direction, it’s fair to ask what it
means for the people of State Senate District 7 who span every part of the political
spectrum?

Growing support for socialism in America largely stems from concerns about income
inequality. But socialism’s attempts to use government policy to spread the wealth typically leads to market inefficiencies and less economic growth overall which ends up
doing more harm than good.

If socialism continues to grow in popularity, we will be subjected to more government
interference in the marketplace, intended to help people but ultimately dampening
economic growth and driving up costs.

Mike Moeller isn’t running against any one label. Moeller is running because this district
deserves a senator focused on the people of Wisconsin, on results, not rhetoric, and not a
high concentration of government power that leads to widespread ineƯiciencies,
shortages, and economic stagnation.
