The Dem group Opportunity Wisconsin announced a new ad targeting 1st CD GOP U.S. Rep. Bryan Steil, accusing him of supporting the largest cut to Medicaid to “pay for another billionaire tax cut.”
The group said it’s putting $520,000 behind the spot.
The ad features a man identified as Joe, a Kenosha firefighter. Joe, who was featured in a previous spot targeting Steil, says his son was diagnosed with a rare condition that required constant testing that insurance wouldn’t cover. He says the only way he and his wife, a nurse, were able to afford health care was Medicaid.
“It makes me angry,” Joe says of Steil’s vote. “We don’t know how we’d afford it. I write to him. I call him. We need to tell Congressman Bryan Steil to stop raising our costs.”
