Milwaukee — Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin today announced its endorsement of David Crowley, Josh Kaul, Sarah Godlewski and JoCasta Zamarripa — in Wisconsin’s 2026 elections, backing a statewide slate of candidates committed to protecting reproductive freedom and abortion access.

“Wisconsinites know exactly what it means to lose the freedom to make our own health care decisions,” said Tanya Atkinson, President of Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin. “We lived it. When Roe was overturned, abortion care stopped in Wisconsin for 14 months. Wisconsinites fought back, today PPWI provides abortion care — and we are not going backward again.”

The 2026 election comes at a critical moment for reproductive freedom in Wisconsin.

Anti-abortion politicians, including gubernatorial candidate Tom Tiffany, have opposed abortion rights and threaten the progress Wisconsin has made restoring access to reproductive health care. Tom Tiffany has a long record of supporting abortion bans and restrictions at both the state and federal levels. As a Wisconsin state senator, Tiffany voted in 2015 for SB 179, which banned abortion at 20 weeks except in a medical emergency. After joining Congress, Tiffany went further: in 2023, he co-sponsored the Heartbeat Protection Act, a proposed nationwide ban on abortion at roughly six weeks of pregnancy—before many people know they are pregnant—and without exceptions for rape or incest. Tiffany has also said he would support a federal 20-week abortion ban, calling that restriction “commonsense,” and in 2022 he voted against legislation protecting the ability to travel across state lines to obtain legal abortion care.

“This election presents Wisconsin voters with a fundamental choice: who should make decisions about your health, your family, and your future — you or politicians?” said Tanya Atkinson. “Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin is proud to support candidates who trust Wisconsinites to make those decisions for themselves.”

Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin endorsed:

Governor — David Crowley
David Crowley has a record of standing up for reproductive freedom. As a state representative, he co-sponsored measures declaring abortion is health care and legislation protecting the right to choose an abortion and eliminating unnecessary abortion restrictions. Today, he has pledged to enshrine reproductive freedom—including abortion access—in Wisconsin law and protect the right to make personal health care decisions without government interference.

Attorney General — Josh Kaul
After Roe was overturned, Attorney General Josh Kaul took Wisconsin’s 1849 criminal abortion law to court, arguing it could not be used to ban abortion—and ultimately won at the Wisconsin Supreme Court, preserving legal abortion access in Wisconsin. Kaul has also challenged federal efforts to block Medicaid funding for Planned Parenthood and defended access to reproductive health care.

Lieutenant Governor — Sarah Godlewski
Sarah Godlewski has consistently advocated for reproductive freedom, including publicly calling for repeal of Wisconsin’s 1849 criminal abortion ban before Roe was overturned. Following Dobbs, she continued organizing and speaking across Wisconsin against the ban and in support of protecting abortion access.

Secretary of State — JoCasta Zamarripa
JoCasta Zamarripa has a long record of supporting reproductive freedom, including previous work for Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin. After Roe was overturned, she introduced a Milwaukee resolution directing the city to advocate for repeal of Wisconsin’s 1849 abortion ban, declaring that Wisconsinites should be able to make their own reproductive health care decisions.

“Abortion access is on the ballot in Wisconsin,” Tanya Atkinson, President of Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin said. “The leaders we elect will determine whether Wisconsin protects the freedoms we’ve fought to restore or allows anti-abortion politicians to take them away again. We are going to make sure Wisconsin voters know the stakes.”
