MILWAUKEE, Wis. — State Representative Priscilla A. Prado won Tuesday’s Democratic primary for Wisconsin’s 9th Assembly District, securing the Democratic nomination in her campaign for reelection.

“I am incredibly grateful to the voters who placed their trust in me again,” Prado said. “It is an honor to represent our community, and I am ready to continue fighting for working families in Madison.”

During her first term, Prado focused on lowering healthcare costs, standing with immigrant families, and increasing Latino representation in state government. She also helped establish the Wisconsin Legislature’s Hispanic Legislative Caucus to strengthen the voice of Latino communities across the state.

“This campaign has always been about listening to our neighbors and making sure our community has a strong voice in Madison,” Prado said. “Thank you to every voter, volunteer, donor, and supporter who helped make this victory possible.”

Prado will now advance to the November general election. She said her campaign will continue focusing on healthcare affordability, our immigrant community, support for small businesses and working families, and making sure Milwaukee receives the resources it deserves.

Prado defeated School Board Director Mimi Reza in Tuesday’s Democratic primary.

“I thank Director Reza for the race that she ran,” Prado said. “Our Latino community is growing in Wisconsin, and with that growth comes more leaders stepping forward to serve. I believe that is something we should celebrate. Our community is stronger when more people are engaged, and more Latinos see themselves represented in public office.”

“We won tonight because our community showed up,” Prado said. “Now we keep working, keep organizing, and keep moving forward together.”
