Protect Our Care’s GOP Health Care Madness Campaign Brings Full-Court Pressure as Fallout of GOP Health Care Cuts Hits Families
Watch Representative Van Orden’s New Ad Here.
WISCONSIN – Ahead of the Affordable Care Act’s (ACA) 16th anniversary on Monday, March 23rd, Protect Our Care is launching new ads holding Republicans, including Derrick Van orden (WI-03), accountable for making health care more expensive and ripping away coverage from millions of Americans, all to fund tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations. Instead of lowering costs, Republicans have ripped away the tax credits nearly 22 million Americans rely on to afford coverage, while pushing junk insurance plans that leave families stuck with massive bills and fail to cover pre-existing conditions.
These ads are part of Protect Our Care’s nationwide, seven-figure campaign, “Technical Foul: The GOP’s Health Care Madness,” to hold Republicans accountable for their devastating cuts to health care. Throughout the month of March, Protect Our Care will spotlight real stories of people impacted by GOP cuts, including families likely to lose access to Medicaid, people experiencing premium hikes and higher prescription drug costs, and communities impacted by hospital closures.
“Republicans like Representative Derrick Van Orden are taking a sledgehammer to American health care so that they can hand out tax breaks to billionaires,” said Protect Our Care Wisconsin State Director Joe Zepecki. “Families across the country are already struggling to keep up with rising costs, and Republicans made it even harder by ripping away the help people relied on to afford their healthcare. Now, millions of Americans are paying more, losing coverage, or being pushed into worse plans that won’t cover their prescriptions, doctors, or pre-existing conditions. Hard-working families will suffer because Republicans like Representative Van Orden chose wealthy donors and corporate interests over the health and financial security of the American people.”
The ads will launch in the following districts on the 16th Anniversary of the ACA on Monday March 23rd: Derrick Van Orden (R-WI-03), Eli Crane (R-AZ-02), Juan Ciscomani (R-AZ-06), David Valadao (R-CA-22), Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA-01), Zach Nunn (R-IA-03), Bill Huizenga (R-MI-04), Tom Barrett (R-MI-07), Mike Lawler (R-NY-17), Ryan Mackenzie (R-PA-07), Rob Bresnahan (R-PA-08), Scott Perry (R-PA-10), Rob Wittman (R-VA-01), and Jen Kiggans (R-VA-02).

Ad script for WI-03:
Narrator: Republicans, like Derrick Van Orden, have a plan for your health care. Make it more expensive. They’ve cut the tax credits millions rely on to afford coverage — all to fund billionaire tax cuts. And they’re trying to replace real coverage with junk plans that don’t cover your prescriptions, your doctors, or your pre-existing conditions. Millions will get sick and many more could lose coverage altogether.
Trump promised affordable health care. He lied. Call Representative Derrick Van Orden. Reverse these health care cuts before it’s too late.
