MADISON — Assembly Majority Leader Tyler August (R-Walworth) released the following statement regarding Rep. Dean Kaufert:
“Dean’s decision to return to the Legislature for one more term speaks to his commitment to public service and to this institution. He didn’t have to come back but he chose to step forward and serve again, and we are better for it.
“Throughout his time in the Assembly, Dean has been a trusted voice and someone I’ve looked up to as a mentor. He brought a level of experience, perspective, and institutional knowledge that is hard to replicate, and he was always willing to share that with others.
“Dean brought a deep understanding of this institution and was always willing to share that knowledge with others. His steady approach, thoughtful guidance, and willingness to help others navigate the process made a real difference, especially for those of us who had the opportunity to learn from him.
“We will miss his presence, his perspective, and the wisdom he brought to the Assembly every day. I’m grateful to Dean for his service and wish him and his family all the best in the years ahead.”
