MADISON — Assembly Majority Leader Tyler August (R-Walworth) released the following statement regarding the retirement of Representative Kevin Petersen:

“I want to thank Kevin for his many years of service to the people of Wisconsin and to the Assembly. Kevin has always approached this job with a deep respect for the institution and a commitment to representing the people of his district.

“Kevin and I share the unique experience of having served as Speaker Pro Tempore of the Assembly, a role that requires patience, attention to detail, and a steady hand on the gavel. Kevin carried out that responsibility with professionalism and fairness, ensuring the Assembly floor operated the way it should: with order, respect, and a focus on getting the people’s work done.

“Throughout his time in the Legislature, Kevin was known as a thoughtful member who cared deeply about the issues affecting his constituents. Whether working on policy, guiding debate on the Assembly floor, or representing his district back home, Kevin brought a steady and principled approach to public service.

“Public service requires sacrifice, and it also requires people who are willing to step forward and do the work. Kevin has done that for many years, and Wisconsin is better for it.

“I wish Kevin and his family all the best in retirement and thank him again for his dedication to the Assembly and to the state of Wisconsin.”
