MADISON… Assembly Majority Leader Tyler August (R-Walworth)

“I want to be among the first to thank Robin for his years of service to our state. As our state’s longest serving Speaker, Robin’s accomplishments are unmatched in the Legislature. Assembly Republicans have experienced over a decade of success in large part because of his strategic vision and commitment to our team. From his leadership during Act 10 as the Joint Committee on Finance Co-Chair, to extracting conservative wins from an unwilling Governor, to massive tax reform, to navigating an election cycle under a Democrat gerrymander, Robin’s leadership has literally saved Wisconsin taxpayers BILLIONS of dollars during his time as Speaker.

“Under his leadership, Wisconsin enacted historic income tax reductions, delivered meaningful property tax relief, built one of the strongest rainy day funds in state history, and maintained balanced budgets year after year. Even during periods of divided government, Robin ensured our caucus advanced conservative reforms that strengthened our economy, supported workforce development, invested record amounts in K-12 education, and kept Wisconsin on solid fiscal footing.

“Public service has been a lifelong calling for Robin. Volunteering on campaigns since he was a kid, Robin has always known how important it is to show up and be involved. Through all of life’s trials, Robin has stayed the consistent leader our caucus needed and has never missed a floor session in over 20 years in office, a fact I know he is proud of. Simply put, Wisconsin is a better state today because it had Speaker Vos over these last 15 years.

“While Assembly Republicans will surely miss his leadership, we have built a team of legislators ready for whatever challenge faces us and will continue to build on Robin’s success utilizing the blueprint he has created for us. I sincerely wish Robin and Michelle all the happiness and success in legislative retirement.”
