Madison – Today, Representative Jill Billings voted to pass bills to provide over $130 million in PFAS remediation and assistance funding. Rep. Billings represents French Island, one of the communities most effected by PFAS contamination in Wisconsin, and she released the following statement:

“Many residents of French Island have been drinking bottled water for five years because the water flowing from their taps has been contaminated by PFAS. Tonight, I was proud to vote to allocate over $130 million in funding for PFAS testing, remediation, and well compensation grants. This compromise legislation will provide meaningful assistance to my constituents and communities across the state who have been suffering because of PFAS.”

“Throughout this session, I have been in contact with the bill authors to discuss a resolution to the impasse between the legislature, the Governor, industries, and the DNR. I am thrilled that this bill has provided a compromise between all parties and we can finally release this funding to the people who need relief.”
