Madison – Today, the State Building Commission met to consider dozens of agenda items, including several projects that will benefit the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Representative Billings, a member of the State Building Commission and the Chair of the Higher Education Subcommittee, voted to approve these projects and released the following statement in response:

“I was proud to vote in favor of projects that will make UW-La Crosse a better place for students to live and learn. Today, the State Building Commission approved projects to renovate the science laboratory space at Morris Hall with new technology; upgrade the dance education space at Mitchell Hall with a new dance floor and acoustic upgrades; construct and improve elevators at Sanford, White, and Wentz Halls to extend service life, make elevators more accessible, and modernize facilities; and improvements to the heating plant and chilled water main to increase capacity.”

“All of these projects will help improve UW-La Crosse for years to come. It is essential to provide UWL’s students with safe and functional learning environments, and upgrading systems and learning spaces will support this goal. I am glad that my fellow State Building Commission members joined me to vote to approve this funding to invest in the future of UWL and our region.”
