Today, State Representative Cindi Duchow (R-Delafield) announced her re-election bid for the 97th Assembly District. Representative Duchow was first elected to the Wisconsin State Legislature in a 2015 special election. Throughout her decade of service, Representative Duchow has remained steadfast in her commitment to limit government oversight, maintain the safety of our communities and ensure that our youngest Wisconsinites receive a strong education. After her announcement, Representative Duchow released the following statement.

“It is an honor to represent my friends and neighbors in the 97th Assembly District. I have called this little corner of the state home my entire life, and I truly believe that there is no better place. As a lifelong resident, I understand our shared values and needs. The 97th Assembly District is home to competitive school districts, a thriving business community, and at the center of it all, a diverse natural landscape that so many of us enjoy. I continue to advocate for my neighbors in Madison, with the goal of maintaining our community’s reputation as a wonderful place to both raise a family and retire. This session, my Republican colleagues and I delivered on many fronts. We kicked off the session by providing $1.5 billion in tax cuts. We allocated $500 million for special education funding, the largest investment in state history. I worked with my colleagues to secure funding for six full-time assistant district attorney positions for Waukesha County. And I pushed for the expansion of I-94 between western Waukesha County and the Jefferson County line. I am happy to report that this project continues to progress, with a highway study on the horizon. Most notably, this session, it was an honor to author Gail’s Law, a lifesaving piece of legislation that will increase access to breast cancer screenings for so many Wisconsin women. Last month, this bill was officially signed into law, marking a major, bipartisan commitment to women’s health. While it was a strong legislative session, my work in Madison is not done. I hear from neighbors everyday who are concerned about the rising cost of living. I speak with young parents who want to ensure their child grows up in a safe community and receives a well-rounded education. And I hear from our seniors, who want to keep more of their hard-earned money during their retirement years. I am ready to continue the fight for the great people of the 97th Assembly District, and make your voice heard at the State Capitol.”
