MADISON, Wis. – Today, Representative Kalan Haywood (D-Milwaukee), along with Legislative Democrats, introduced the Working for Wisconsin Housing Package. This package of bills includes The First Time Homeowners Act (LRB 4169), Creating a Housing Repair Fund (LRB 4330), Expanding the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LRB 4679), and Allowing Lead Inspections to Protect Tenants (LRB 4174). On these four pieces of critical legislation, Rep. Haywood released the following statement:
“Access to homeownership, a robust housing stock, and healthy protections for tenants are cornerstones to a functional housing market. In Wisconsin, we must make the bold investments necessary to ensure housing is affordable and accessible across our state. Whether you are buying your first home, seeking to rehabilitate your current home, or are a current tenant, you deserve access to safe and affordable housing.”
“As Legislative Democrats, we are putting together innovative solutions to create a better housing market across our state. With these pieces of legislation, we can ensure the interests of homeowners and tenants are protected. Together, we will build more affordable housing and ensure that new developments will be kept up to date for years to come. ”
