MADISON – Representative Karen Hurd issued the following statement in response to the announcement by Senator Jesse James that he will be retiring from the State Senate at the end of his term.

“I’ve known Jesse for many years, and one of the things I admire the most about him is his servant’s heart. He sought elected office not to be somebody, but to serve his friends and neighbors and fight to make our area a great place to live and raise a family. With Jesse choosing to retire from the State Senate, Northern Wisconsin is losing one of its strongest advocates in the State Legislature.

“Major victories like the new Rogers Behavioral Health hospital and the upcoming reopening of the former Libertas Treatment Center would not have happened without Jesse’s leadership. Jesse has not been afraid to listen and put in the hard work to get good things done for the people of Wisconsin. Serving alongside him over the past two terms has been an honor and privilege. I wish Jesse and his family all the best in their future endeavors.”
