MADISON, WI – State Representative Brent Jacobson (R – Mosinee) issued the following response to Governor Tony Evers’ eighth and final State of the State address.
“Last night, Governor Evers attempted to take credit for accomplishments and proposals by Legislative Republicans while shifting blame for his Administration’s failures,” said Rep. Jacobson. “As Governor, he has repeatedly vetoed middle-class tax cuts, fought to expand state agencies and bureaucratic red tape, and proudly saddled homeowners with jaw-dropping property tax hikes for the next 400 years. Wisconsin’s thriving economy and budget surplus are in spite of his record, not a result.
“As this session draws to a close, my Republican colleagues and I are not finished working for the people of Wisconsin,” said Rep. Jacobson. “Yesterday, we presented the Governor with our plan to direct our state’s $2.4 billion surplus back to the taxpayers who created it. Our proposal makes responsible investments in special education and property tax relief, while also returning our surplus to where it does the most good – taxpayer wallets. I urge the Governor to take the deal we have given him, and give the Wisconsinites suffering from his 400-year veto relief.”
