MADISON – With all calendar floor periods over for the year and the Wisconsin Legislature’s last special session convening on May 13th, the 2025-2026 session is now over. Rep. Sheehan comments on his first year in office:

“I am honored to serve the people of District 26. We have taken some great strides but still have a ways to go.

This past session Assembly Democrats have introduced over 500 bills; all of them aimed at improving the lives of Wisconsinites and lowering everyday costs. I am proud to have been a lead author and co-sponsor on many of these bills, such as: AB-1100 which lowers the cost of over the counter drugs, AB-1223, a loan forgiveness program for teachers, firefighters, and police officers, AB-48 which provides healthy school meals for all children, AB-464 that reestablishes prevailing wage, AB-917 that establishes an interest free loan program for first time home buyers, AB-317 which authorizes more funds to DCF for the Child Care Counts Program, AB-570 which ensures the money follows the pupil from private voucher programs to public schools, and AB-504 which requires an individual’s property tax bill display how much money went towards the voucher program and the in-district public schools.

Despite all of these bills failing in the Legislature this session, I was proud to have worked with my colleagues across the aisle to pass significant bipartisan legislation for our constituents. On the final session day, both houses passed postpartum Medicaid expansion and Gail’s Law, an extended cancer screening prevention policy.

It is a privilege to work for you. I enjoy hearing from my constituents, please keep reaching out. I hope to continue serving the Sheboygan area and bring about policies that help make my constituents’ lives a little bit better.”
