MADISON, Wis. — Today, Assembly Democratic Leader Greta Neubauer (D-Racine) attended the signing ceremony for Senate Bill 23, which expands postpartum Medicaid eligibility for new moms.
After the ceremony, Rep. Neubauer released the following statement:
“Access to healthcare is essential, especially for women recovering from giving birth and caring for newborns. As someone who is about to become a mom, I am very proud to have co-authored this bill, fought for its passage, and voted for it on the Assembly floor last month.
“While it is unacceptable that it took the Republican majority 7 years to pass this bill, I am incredibly relieved that we finally got here. Thank you to all of those who worked tirelessly to get this bill passed. Your persistence and advocacy will save lives.”
