MADISON, Wis. — With WisconsinEye services indefinitely shutdown and government proceedings occurring without coverage, Rep. Neubauer released the following statement:

“Since 2007, people from every corner of the state, from Racine to Superior, have been able to tune in to watch our work in the Capitol and see what’s happening here with their own eyes. Until today.”

“Today, the cameras are dark. Nobody will be able to livestream our government proceedings like they’ve been able to for the past 19 years. It’s a sad day for accountability.

“Transparency is an essential part of a functioning democracy. Without it, mistrust thrives and multiplies. At a time when we need to be building trust in our state government, when we need to be demonstrating that government can and must be a force for good, this is a step backwards. It erodes the public’s trust in us.

“We will continue pushing to restore the public’s access to government proceedings in the Capitol, and we are calling on our Republican colleagues to join us.”
