Madison, WI – Rep. Treig E. Pronschinske released the following statement succeeding the State of the State address:
“Tonight, Governor Tony Evers touted his efforts to be bipartisan but per usual with this speech, these generic cries for comradery were dishonest and misleading.
“Over the past couple of weeks, Republican lawmakers alongside the Legislative Fiscal Bureau found that Wisconsin has a $2.3 billion surplus and we have worked to find a solution and compromise that is bipartisan in nature and benefits every Wisconsinite.
“We have offered to lower property taxes, fund special education at higher levels, and ultimately give money back to you: the citizen. Governor Evers has refused to come to the table unless he gets his way and his way alone. This is simply not how bipartisanship works.
“My Republican colleagues and I are eager to work with Democrats so that Wisconsinites don’t have to suffer from petty political gimmicks. Unfortunately, Governor Evers and his base care more about cutting down there could-be-allies and less about the residents of Wisconsin. Over the coming days, I hope we can come together and find a sensible agreement that works best for the constituents of the 29th Assembly District and all of Wisconsin.
“I want money back in your pockets because you deserve it. You work hard and you deserve every penny we can give back to you. That has always been my promise to you and it will continue to be my promise to you for as long as I am the Assemblyman of the 29th Assembly District.”
