MADISON, Wis. — State Representative Amaad Rivera-Wagner today celebrated the approval of critical state investments in several impactful Green Bay-area projects following action by the State Building Commission. The projects will support veterans, expand access to healthy food and economic opportunity, and create affordable housing infrastructure in the community.

The approved projects include:

  • Veterans 1st of NEW — $75,900 for the Veterans 1st of NEW Village
  • Wello, Inc. — $468,900 for Cultivating Community: Advancing Economic Development and Sustainability Moving Wisconsin’s Food System Forward for the Future
  • City of Green Bay — $1.2 million for the Green Bay Fire Station Flats Apartments

“These investments reflect the kind of community-centered development that Green Bay deserves,” said Rep. Rivera-Wagner. “From supporting veterans experiencing housing insecurity, to strengthening our local food systems, to expanding housing opportunities for working families, these projects will make a real difference in people’s lives.”

Rep. Rivera-Wagner praised the organizations and local leaders behind the projects for their commitment to addressing critical community needs through innovative and collaborative solutions.

“Veterans 1st of NEW continues to do extraordinary work to ensure veterans have safe, stable housing and support services,” Rivera-Wagner said. “Wello’s efforts to strengthen food access and sustainability will help build a healthier and more resilient community. And the Fire Station Flats project represents an important investment in housing that supports residents and strengthens neighborhoods.”

“These are exactly the kinds of investments that state government should be making — projects that create long-term community benefit, improve quality of life, and help ensure Green Bay continues to grow in an equitable and sustainable way.”
